Admission procedure

Application dates

Enrolment in the Ecoles de Condé begins in December and remains open subject to availability.

There is no closing date for enrolment, but please be aware that class numbers are limited in order to guarantee quality teaching.

Therefore, it is advisable to register as early as possible and before the end of March for certain courses.

Applications

The application at Ecoles de Conde is based on personal interviews and the evaluation of student records.

In order to be granted an interview, you must make an appointment over the phone. When you come to the interview, please bring the following:

  • Your academic records: all available report cards for the last two years of secondary school (Première and Terminale in the French system or equivalent) as well as a copy of your secondary school exam grades (Baccalauréat in the French system or equivalent) if you have already passed your final exams.
  • Portfolio of artwork or photographs to highlight your motivation (optional).

In the case of direct entry onto a Certified Technician (CT) course, the candidate’s portfolio will be given particular attention. You will usually be given an answer regarding your admission at the end of your personal interview.

Candidates who are unable to travel in order to attend the interview (because they live too far away, have health problems, etc.) may apply remotely.

In this case you must send the same documents as those outlined above, as well as a cover letter and a down payment check for your training.

If your application is unsuccessful we will return your complete application pack within 48 hours, as well as the down payment check.

If your application is successful, you will receive an official, written confirmation of you admission within 10 days, as well as a list of administrative documents that you will need to send us.

FAQ’s

/ Do I need to wait for the PostBac results before applying to the Ecoles de Conde ?

The results for admission to public institutions are published at the end of June (as concerns the master list) and at the end of July or sometimes not until September (as concerns the waiting list). Therefore, for those wishing to apply both to public schools and the Ecoles de Conde, it is strongly recommend to apply to the Ecoles de Conde at the same time, as many of the courses we offer will not have any spaces left by the time the PostBac results are published.

For those students applying to a Foundation Year in Applied Arts who are subsequently admitted to a Foundation Year in a public or private institution, the down payment will be refunded in its entirety. The admission process at the Écoles de Condé therefore does not have any serious financial consequences.

/ How should I prepare my admission interview ?

The admission interview process of the Écoles de Condé simply aims to verify the candidate’s suitability for the programmes offered by the different schools. No prior academic preparation is necessary.

However, it is always useful to have a few questions in mind: why this particular training? Why the Écoles de Condé? What is my career plan? What can I say about my high school path this far? and so on.

Knowledge of cultural references related to the course you are interested in is also an asset to emphasise during the admission interview.

/ What should my level of artistic practice be ?

Although a portfolio can certainly be an advantage, it is not absolutely necessary. For example, many students integrate the Écoles de Condé without a particularly high level in drawing, but they progress rapidly and reach a more than satisfactory level within the first year.

It is important not to improvise a portfolio shortly before the admission interview. This is often unproductive.

/ What if I fail my high school exams ?

Although most of the training provided in the Écoles de Condé is generally available to baccalaureate level, we strongly advise to get this degree before entering one of our schools. For this reason, it is possible to defer your registration for one year without losing your down payment or it affecting your career.
